Part 1 Optional Picnic – Sugar Gum Tree Table (near the Herb Garden)

Picnic from 6pm

  • In keeping with our Christmas and end of year festive tradition and for those who can make it a little earlier,  BYO plate to share.
  • Please note, the picnic will go ahead in our regular meeting room (MB10) if the weather is unkind for the outdoors.
  • At the Sugar Gum Tree Table (near the Herb Garden) at Burnley Gardens.  If facing the Main Hall entrance, follow the path to the left.

For those who have been lucky enough to see a presentation from Lynsey you will know that she has a wealth of knowledge and fabulous speaker she is.  Lynsey is a passionate volunteer guide at the Royal Botanic Gardens and President of the Friends of RBG, Melbourne during the 175 anniversary last year.

The Chelsea Physic Garden near the River Thames in London was founded in 1673 by Apothecaries to grow medicinal herbs and plants, with a living collection of about 5,000 edible, useful and medicinal plants.   Lynsey will guide you through this incredible garden with her warmth and expertise, so please sit back and enjoy.

Please bring a plate to share and/or herbs for herb tea or assist at the tea trolley after the main event.

Where: Room MB10 (next main Building Hall)

  • Burnley Campus, Melbourne University
  • 500 Yarra Blvd Richmond
  • Enter MB building from the main entrance
  • Room is normally open 7.00pm for 7.30pm start

COST: FIRST MEETING IS FREE – just say at the door you have come via the website

Normally cost for non-members is $5 entry to meetings. Members are no charge to general meetings – Membership (around $25 to $40 p.a), also includes 6 issues p.a to The Herb Age newsletter and other benefits.

HOW TO GET THERE:

  • By road The main entrance is on Yarra Boulevard – south from the Swan Street bridge.  Parking inside the grounds is limited so, if possible please park on Yarra Blvd and walk in.
  • By tram From Flinders Street along the Exhibition Street extension into Swan Street, tram number 70 to stop number 18
  • By train Nearest stations are Burnley, Hawthorn or Heyington

HSOV meets 1st Thursday of the Month (not January)
